UNIT HISTORY
We got recognition as a UNESCO unit of the international network, the UNESCO chair in bioethics in June 2015. This recognition is awarded to academic research institutions, particularly the care of the training and application of medical ethics in theory and practice.
"We are delighted to receive this recognition of our work. Since we have a lot of projects with partners in the developing countries, the label helps us enormously, because it is very famous and known. In addition, it is extremely motivating to work with the UNESCO International Network and achieve our research goals and ideas. Prof. Dr. Fortwengel.
OUR FOCUS
We work in the areas of medical research in developing countries from the standpoint of ethical, legal, socio-economic conditions.
One of the current research is the development of drugs in the so-called low-income countries, to check whether the patients participating in the studies of the pharmaceutical industry, will also benefit from the results of this research by a subsequent marketing approval of new drugs in their countries.
We have ongoing research projects in Nigeria, Sudan, Cameroon, India and USA.
